Songs on Sullivant: An Evening of Caroling & Community is a grassroots winter holiday event led by Melissa Green, a Hilltop resident and West Side Liaison with the City of Columbus’s Department of Neighborhoods.
Melissa first organized Songs on Sullivant in 2019, partly in response to a rash of negative publicity about Sullivant Avenue and its many challenges, to bring smiles and cheer to parts of our community that need it.
The annual event, which is completely free, is all about spreading peace, love, and joy along Sullivant Avenue through Franklinton and the Hilltop. It features holiday caroling led by a live band (on a mobile stage, no less!), gifts for youth from Santa Claus, holiday ornament-making, cookies and hot cocoa, and even a take-home dinner!
Along with our friends from Franklinton Arts District, we co-host an art supply and gift drive for youth which benefits the event. We want to inspire the next generation of creatives in Franklinton and the Hilltop!
